I am sorry to learn that Steve has passed.  He was such a great guy to be around, whether at school or playing sandlot sports.  I will miss him as I am sure anyone who knew him will also.

I remember first meeting Steve in the cafeteria in junior high.  He was eating alone and I asked if I could join him.  From then we developed a friendship that lasted until his death.  We had periods where we were on different paths but maintained our relationship.  Steve had a friend, Bill Lepp, who attended Andrean.  We played a lot of sandlot football, basketball, and at some point discovered girls.  Steve was dating Kathy Pictor from Andrean and I was with Peggy Kursh.  Our freshman year at Purdue Steve & I were roommates.  Our sophomore year Steve shared an apartment with Jim Ksenak.  After which Steve dropped out and went to work at Magills in Valpo, and then to Inland Steel as a machinist.  Our paths were separate many times, but 30 years ago in 1990 he was my best man when I married my wife, Debi.  Steve would do anything for you.  Although once when I was going through a difficult time, he told me he would do anything for me but lie.  I respected him.  He and I changed the engine & painted my 67 Firebird.  (I was the helping hand.). We shared so much over the years.  From the good times of diving with Jim Lierman and Mike Murray to the ups & downs of our first marriages.  I trusted Steve and valued his friendship and I miss him.
