Bradford (Brad) Shepley

i am trying to get a block of discounted rooms for out of towners to be able to stay and still be close enough to 'after-party'

preliminary lodging findings: all portage locations
comfort inn- $119.95+tax won't work w/us on blocking or discount

holiday express- $93.99+tax advance(no refund) 109.99+tax (Refundable) will work w/us on blocking and discount depending on #rooms that we promise to reserve

hampton inn- $99.00+tax and currently can block 6 double queen and 4 king rooms together at this rate (AARP rates are better than what she quoted me... $92.65+tax advance no refund or $98.10+tax refundable)

e-mail or post to this forum your response. as soon as i get 10 solid responses i will contact either one of these places and get back to you on FB  'HHS class of 71 wesite', or this forum, or e-mail if you e-mail me at shepleys53@gmail.com

I was in the math/science curriculum @HHS.

The goober guidance councilor, at the JHS in 9th grade?  When I told him I planned to attend Purdue to study engineering, he actually had to get out a course catalog to make sure they offered that.

DUH?  DUH?  And DUH AGAIN?  I was, what?  Fourteen or fifteen years old?  I knew this, and he did not?

Got Clueless???  I think he was the second string track coach.

I wish I'd had the temerity to ask him why he had to look that up.

And then again, in eighth grade, the same fool recommended I study German because so many scientific papers were in German.

Duh?  Duh?  Duh again?  Not since 1945, dude.  We brought all of those Rocket Scientists to Alabama, and then they published in English.  Hello?  Got a freakin' clue, dude????

Did not my councilor get the freaking memo????  That English is the new German?

Surely do wish I'd studied Spanish, instead.  I get by in Spanish nowadays (married to a Cubana for 30 years), but, whoa?

--->>>>> What extraordinary ineptitude.

Our "Guidance Councilors" were nothing but a ship of fools (Consider that Coach Howell's wife was one?  A stiffer, more opinionated, unpleasant person I have never met.)  I was but a young teen but by and large, knew more about their business than they did?  That just bewilders me, to this day.

Looking back, I just cannot believe the ineptitude we were served.  It was a travesty.  It din't hurt me (because I did my own recon?), but how many others were led astray by the slobbering fools they called "Guidance Councilors????"

To be fair, these people did not have proper training to hold these positions.

---->>> THAT TRAVESTY is at the foot of the School Board?

I swear, at the ripe old age of 28, I could have done a job that would have run RINGS around the guidance these ill prepared fools gave us.

I hope things have improved over the years.

Looking back, I just cannot believe the extraordinarily poor guidance we got.

It SUCKED.  There is no other word for it.

Whatabunchaweenies.

I wanted to thank Rod for setting up this website, so our class can make contact with old classmates and friends.  I realize it has been around for a decade but it is new to me.  I also want to say a big “Hi” to everyone, we are all Brickies, and would love hearing from you.

Thank you Sue.  I am glad you joined.  Many have just recently joined as the result of a huge outreach effort by our reunion committee.  There are some amazing women in our class that you all will get to meet at our 50th reunion 10-09-2021.  Our class is blessed with many giving people.

I would like to thank Rod as well! It's been nice seeing names like Sue Stevens and Virginia Hughes, that I haven't seen forever. A real blast from the past I hope everyone is surviving all this Covid madness and staying healthy. I would also like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving! I am extremely illiterate when it comes to computer technology but I'm working on it. My daughter calls me a caveman because She told me I was the last person on earth to have a flip phone, ha ha, She did make me get a Smart phone. Take care everybody, and I hope I can figure out how to send this message!

I need to give a shout out to an amazing group of reunion committee members who have tirelessly been tracking down classmates for our 50th and joining our class site.  We are lucky to have such a wonderful group of caring giving classmates. They are the reason we are seeing new life in our class website.  Thank you Pam Bliss Bolinger, Patty Brown Helminski, Beth Campbell Dickson, Sheila Foller Ellis, Debra Jackson Vucich, Peggy Neir Schammert, Deborah Scharbach Vega, Margee Scott Salisbury, Cheryl Stack Sutherland, Doug Sutherland, and also Larverna Berry VanDan who has tirelessly been trying to track down obituaries for our deceased classmates.  New member Jerry Kettle has been scanning and snipping yearbook  photos of our classmates so we can associate a young classate photo with a name.  He started with our deceased classmates 1st and those wo could get photos for have been posted.  This is truly a group effort.

Wow!  I can't believe all the people from school year memories speaking again through this site, so cool.  A big hug with blessings to Rod, Jerry, Tom, Diane, Terry, and all those women working on reunion committee.  Each bring smile to my heart.

Thank you Diane for reaching out to some classmates who had not joined our website. Sometimes all it takes is a little encouragement from a friend. And Sue, it is nice to have you back after so many years. We will soon be posting names of the few classmates our committee has been unable to track down so that we all be of use in finding them. In the meantime,  Happy Thanksgiving classmates.

Hello Classmates!  It has been such a joy to share in the planning of our 50th Class Reunion and I'd like to say that all of us are committed to having the best reunion ever!. It's been great getting together and share stories and ideas that will make this a success. We have all worked diligently to find our classmates but our research has left us unable to find all of them. We will be posting a list of ones we were unable to find here on our website, so please check back to see if you can help locate them.  I  am thrilled to be seeing so many messages and especially would like to welcome Jerry and Tom into the 21st century!!  wink I'm sure you guys aren't the only ones!

Looking forward to seeing everyone next year and hoping all stay welll and safe during these difficut times. God Bless and  Happy Holidays to you and yours~
