Peggy was my first love. We dated our senior year in high school, and sporadically during our freshmen year at college. She at Manchester and I at Purdue. Being an immature 18 year old I was not ready to settle down and we eventually went our separate ways. Years later I found out she had breast cancer, and after talking to her parents, I called her. When she answered the phone I did not recognize her voice. As she said the hormone treatment had lowered her voice an octave. She was optimistic and was still hoping to raise a family. She was a good woman. I think of her & I miss her...
Peggy and I were best friends throughout grade school, junior high and high school. After heading to college, we loss track of each other. One day when I was home for the holidays, Peggy stopped by to tell me she had breast cancer. I was devisated but just didn't realize the short time we had together. She was always upbeat and energetic. Every weekend we had some type of sleepover, talked about boys, train trips to Gary, rode the bus to Gary, and shared secrets. We were so adventurous. I definitely gained strength from her. I miss our time together! I learned so much from her mom and dad. They treated me as though I was one of their children. Peggy was the best friend I ever had. I miss you Peggy and think of you all the time.

I dated Peggy for a while at HHS. When my father finally heard me mention her last name, he said KURSCH??? DID YOU SAY KURSCH???
It turned out her dad was a high level manager in dad's food chain @ US Steel.
Peggy sure was a riot. I was stunned when I realzed she was gone.
