Mark and I grew up in the same neighborhood. We were close childhood pals along with Dirk Flick, Phil Linoski, Jeff Hoeg (1970), Harry Goethal and many others. I still remember ice skating with Mark and the gang on Lake George, the baseball games we played behind Phil's house and all the doorbells we rang after dark. It still saddens me to think of Mark's passing. He was a great friend and a great man.
When Mark and I were freshmen at Purdue, I helped convince him to pledge with me to AXP a social fraternity. The next year Mark had the bunk under mine. I remember him playing Classical Gas on his guitar. He enjoyed his time at AXP, but being pre-med he could not afford the distractions and the next year moved out. Several years later Mark shared an apartment with Mike Murray and myself, and the distractions continued... All too briefly, we enjoyed each others company.
