In Memory

Victor Beauprey

I ran into Victor in the a few years after graduation in downtown Hobart. He wanted to show me the train set he and his dad had built in the attic of their house on the NW corner of 8th and Lincoln.  The train set layout was like one you would see in the Museum of Science and Industry and Victor was so proud of it.  It was amazing, I have no idea how many hours were spent to complete that layout that took up the entire attic but it was easy to undertand that the effort and dedication put forth was huge.  I am glad Victor shared with me something he took so much pride in.

Thank you Rick Nibbe for giving the heads up regarding Victors passing and for the obituary link shared.  May God bless and comfort all those who knew and loved Victor.

My 7th & 8th grade math teacher, Carmen Ponader, was an HO train freak, and a seriously grumpy old man (he was probabably younger than I am now, but he was LOTS grumpier, methinks?)

:D

I do believe that he and Victor got to be friends over this hobby?

Ponader would find train enthusiests in his classes by dropping subtle hints, and those kids would swarm to him like moths on a porch light, as Ponader had so much more time, money and space to pursue his hobby, than would a 7th or 8th grade kid?
